Phew! Readers got to have a great deal of patience themselves. I counted no less than 90 occurrences of the word “asked” followed by “answered” in the whole text and 128 occurrences of “if” or “whether” that precede indirect speech. There’s indirect speech galore in the seemingly unending Q&A-section and sentences that run on and on, far beyond the horizon of any sense and reason. Stylistically it’s a fiasco, if you ask me. At this time, I wasn’t even quite sure, if this was meant to be satirical or not. A bizarre trip of a Lady gone Empress of a new world, called the blazing world, to which she got via hopping from pole to pole (don’t ask).Īnimal-creatures of this new world, like bear-men, spider-men, worm-men &c, demonstrate considerable patience in answering the new-born empress’s questions of which she has a great many.
